01 · About

Meet Dr Kountouras.

Dr Dinos Kountouras, dental surgeon, Gold Coast
Dr Dinos KountourasBDS, MSc, PhD

Dr Dinos Kountouras has been a dentist for more than 35 years. His specialty: rebuilding worn or missing teeth and placing implants. He treats patients in Southport, Gold Coast, plans every case on screen before treatment starts, and teaches this work to other dentists around the world.

His specialities
01Replacing all of your teethOpen

When most or all teeth are worn out or missing, a complete new row of fixed teeth is built on implants. Everything is designed on screen first, so you see the plan before anything is done. Dentists call this full-arch rehabilitation; it is his main specialty.

02Dental implantsOpen

A missing tooth is replaced by a small titanium post in the jaw with a new tooth fixed on top. From a single tooth to a full row. He trained in implant placement full-time at New York University, and placement follows a digital guide, not guesswork.

03Veneers & smile designOpen

Thin ceramic layers bonded to your own teeth to change their shape and colour, designed on screen with you first. His master's degree and doctorate are in exactly this field: how new teeth are shaped, fitted and made to last.

04Fixing worn or broken-down teethOpen

For teeth ground down or damaged over years, the whole bite is rebuilt, not just single teeth patched. Your jaw's real movement is recorded and the new bite is designed around it, so the repaired teeth work together when you chew and speak.

02 · How it works

How it works, from first look to final smile.

Five steps. Everything is planned on a screen, and shown to you, before any treatment starts.

01

A full 3D picture of your mouth

A small camera and a quick 3D X-ray build an exact digital copy of your teeth and jaw. No impression trays, no goo.

?The 3D X-ray is called a CBCT. It takes seconds, and it lets the doctor see bone and roots that a normal photo cannot show.

02

You see your possible smile on screen

At the first consultation you look at a digital preview of how your smile could look, and talk it through, before deciding anything.

The preview shows what is possible, not an exact promise of your own result.

03

We record how your jaw really moves

A camera system films your jaw's actual movement while you bite and speak, so your new teeth are designed for how you really chew.

?The system is called MODJAW. Most new teeth are designed from still photos. His are also designed from a recording of your jaw in motion, so they fit the way you actually chew.

04

Your new teeth are designed digitally

The doctor designs the result on the computer, checked against your scan, your jaw movement and the preview you approved.

?You may hear the term full-arch. It means replacing a complete row of teeth, upper or lower, as one fixed piece. It is one of his main specialties.

05

The plan guides the treatment

Implants and new teeth are placed following the digital plan, so what you receive matches what was designed and shown to you.
